Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Patriots will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They are betting Trapilo proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Higgins.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Tetairoa McMillan in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Aireontae Ersery in the 38th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ozzy Trapilo a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jayden Higgins at Round 3, Pick 13 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cam Skattebo at slot 106 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
