The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Robinson lower, and that gap is the story. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in the 44th pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darius Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Khyree Jackson at No. 102, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ben Sinnott in slot 141 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Edefuan Ulofoshio worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Joshua Cephus at pick 234 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
