The rest of the league had time to spare on Evan Williams; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 36 spots ahead at No. 246. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Rice.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Byron Murphy II went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Chris Braswell in the 57th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Sedrick Van Pran at pick 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Brenden Rice in slot 91 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jarrian Jones at Round 4, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Cedric Gray in Round 4, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nothing to complain about; Christian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in slot 217, where Jawhar Jordan graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Demani Richardson at No. 219 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
Evan Williams at pick No. 246 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
