Call it larceny. Ro Torrence sat on the board until the 214th pick, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. The final tally is a middling C.
Eichenberg has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
If Troy Fautanu and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a long-term starter on the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They went early on Xavier Legette in pick 63, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They jumped the gun on DeWayne Carter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Brenden Rice at pick No. 97 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Braelon Allen at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tommy Eichenberg at No. 114 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Beaux Limmer in the 115th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dwight McGlothern is a better player than slot 174 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ro Torrence in pick 214 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
