The Steelers torched the value chart for Isaiah Jatta, taking him 23 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B.
On value alone, Everette makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a disruptive interior force. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 6 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Jacob Rodriguez in pick No. 76, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and Michael Taaffe was the payoff at pick 85. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Daylen Everette in slot 99 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Kevin Coleman Jr. at No. 161, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Isaiah Jatta at pick 216, and the board is aghast. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Tyren Montgomery slid further than he should have, and pick No. 224 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Keyshaun Elliott higher than the 230th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Luke Altmyer at slot 237 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
