You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Tyler Onyedim in pick No. 236. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Daylen Everette in pick 60 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Domonique Orange at the 91st overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Jude Bowry in No. 120, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Beau Stephens at the 160th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Cameron at slot 201 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Miles Kitselman. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tyler Onyedim in slot 236, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They liked Miller Moss enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 239. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
