· 9 picks
· 2 steals
· 5 reaches
The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 42 spots for Javion Cohen, and value like that does not grow back.
The Rosemy-Jacksaint pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Bucky Irving in Round 2, Pick 25 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trey Benson in pick 87 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Javion Cohen at the 126th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 173 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at No. 213 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dylan McMahon at pick 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 22 with a little surplus value in KT Leveston. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kingsley Eguakun at No. 244 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
