Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A mixed bag that lands at C.
That Jacobs pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
Every board in the league had Bishop lower, and that gap is the story. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 7 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Bralen Trice slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the edge rusher. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach for Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 38th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Edgerrin Cooper this early at pick No. 40. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Cooper Beebe in the 67th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Max Melton at Round 3, Pick 37 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cole Bishop at slot 102 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nice patience on Cam Hart, who had no business lasting to No. 141. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; Jawhar Jordan in the 181st overall pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Curtis Jacobs all the way to pick No. 223, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
