There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cardinals took Simeon Barrow Jr. a full 66 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 16 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy little value on T.J. Sanders in Round 2, Pick 15, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Barrett Carter in the 78th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Simeon Barrow Jr. at slot 114 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jonah Monheim in pick 153 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
