The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Thor Griffith, taking him 60 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Parrish at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Aireontae Ersery at pick No. 38, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Mason Taylor at the Round 2 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Tate Ratledge at par in pick 69, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Luke Kandra at the 81st overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 106 with a little surplus value in Cam Skattebo. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Elijah Roberts, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jacob Parrish in No. 144 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A real head-scratcher, Clay Webb in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Brady Cook at Round 7, Pick 4 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Thor Griffith in the 238th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
