The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 66 spots for Isaac Guerendo, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Bullock pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Adonai Mitchell in the 34th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Patrick Paul at pick 38, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached a country mile for Spencer Rattler at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a safety like Calen Bullock reach the 104th pick and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Leonard Taylor III at pick No. 107 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They went early on Renardo Green in the 136th pick, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
AJ Barner in the 182nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Isaac Guerendo at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
