When the story of this class is written, it opens with Ahmed Hassanein at slot 145, a reach of 79 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
The Marshall Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Adding DaRon Bland by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Will Campbell in No. 12, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Colston Loveland in pick No. 38 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Marcus Mbow slid further than he should have, and the 69th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tre Harris at Round 3, Pick 12 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Jake Majors in pick 97; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on Cam Skattebo in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ahmed Hassanein in the Round 5 slot, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Jason Marshall Jr. all the way to the 219th pick, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for Roc Taylor here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a safety like Akili Arnold reach the 240th overall pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
