Somebody in slot 243 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Luke Lachey, the No. 193 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had Aireontae Ersery higher than pick 58, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Chris Paul Jr. at pick No. 89 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Andrew Mukuba at No. 127 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They did well to land Ollie Gordon II in Round 5, Pick 28, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tight end of that caliber at the 243rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
