The Packers torched the value chart for Kimani Vidal, taking him 124 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Getting Mims where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Amarius Mims reach the 54th pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 58 with a little surplus value in Xavier Worthy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in slot 91, with Max Melton worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at the 98th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Brenden Rice at pick No. 119 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Kimani Vidal in slot 128, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
