The Packers bet big and early on Trey Benson, 30 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On value alone, Davis makes the weekend a net positive.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 41st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Trey Benson at pick 58 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Christian Mahogany in the 88th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Brenden Rice at No. 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ray Davis slid further than he should have, and slot 126 is lovely value for the running back. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
