Somebody in Round 4, Pick 26 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Brenden Rice, the No. 96 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jackson Powers-Johnson slipping to the 41st pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 58. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Dominick Puni at No. 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaden Hicks in the 91st overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Brenden Rice at pick 126 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Marist Liufau at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
