The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Jaxson Dart, the No. 127 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 34 like a gift left on the doorstep.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Jones Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Princely Umanmielen · DE-EDGE · rank 14
In the 14th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. More want than need.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 16
Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 51
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tyler Booker in the 77th pick, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.12 · Pick 113 · Jack Nelson · OT · rank 107
Good price on Jack Nelson in Round 4, Pick 12, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.13 · Pick 151 · Zane Durant · DT · rank 154
By-the-book stuff, Zane Durant at pick 151 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.31 · Pick 169 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 179
The board had cheaper options than Tory Horton at No. 169, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.32 · Pick 170 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 186
They liked Emery Jones Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 170. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.34 · Pick 172 · Daylen Everette · CB · rank 167
Fair-plus on Daylen Everette, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Antwane Wells Jr. · WR · rank 193
Antwane Wells Jr. in the 188th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.18 · Pick 193 · Rod Moore · S · rank 196
No edge and no loss on Rod Moore in slot 193; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jaxson Dart · QB · rank 127
You do not let a quarterback like Jaxson Dart reach the 209th overall pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.18 · Pick 232 · Henry Parrish Jr. · RB · rank 215
Henry Parrish Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick No. 232 is lovely value for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
