The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Jaxson Dart, the No. 127 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 34 like a gift left on the doorstep.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Jones Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. More want than need.
Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tyler Booker in the 77th pick, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Jack Nelson in Round 4, Pick 12, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Zane Durant at pick 151 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Tory Horton at No. 169, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Emery Jones Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 170. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Daylen Everette, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Antwane Wells Jr. in the 188th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Rod Moore in slot 193; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let a quarterback like Jaxson Dart reach the 209th overall pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Henry Parrish Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick No. 232 is lovely value for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
