Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft.
Getting Ulofoshio where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The veteran additions, Byron Murphy Jr. chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Javon Baker in the 95th pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Elijah Jones is a better player than Round 4, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Jones at pick No. 132, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dillon Johnson at pick 173 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 252nd overall pick is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
