You could see the war room lean forward. Hunter Nourzad at the 158th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Barrett to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Brock Bowers in slot 21, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They liked Kiran Amegadjie enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Hunter Nourzad in pick 158 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Cornelius Johnson in the 184th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Magee at the 198th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach on Michael Barrett in pick No. 242; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
