The Jaylen Harrell selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 46 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
Landing Lloyd that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Franklin in the 33rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quinyon Mitchell in the 64th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at slot 95, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Roman Wilson in pick 102 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Khristian Boyd at pick No. 133 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Edefuan Ulofoshio went about where he belonged in No. 158. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylen Harrell well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: MarShawn Lloyd still on the board at No. 172. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Christian Jones at the 210th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on Jared Wiley in pick 219, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 250, and the board did not agree. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
