Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Chiefs never addressed tight end, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
That Barrett pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 7. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dominick Puni at pick No. 95 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Justin Eboigbe at slot 132 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dwight McGlothern at pick 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had cheaper options than Khristian Boyd at the 162nd pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Williams in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Michael Barrett at No. 252 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
