Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Barrett pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The McCormick pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kingsley Suamataia in pick 64. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mekhi Wingo in No. 104 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Mason McCormick in Round 5, Pick 2, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to the 159th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dwight McGlothern in the 173rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Barrett at slot 252 is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
