It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jaylen Harrell in pick 184, a good 36 spots before the room expected him.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Trotter Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Hit on Keon Coleman and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
Keon Coleman in No. 38 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Xavier Worthy was the payoff at the 64th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. still on the board at the 78th pick. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Javon Foster, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Ben Sinnott enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 119. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mason McCormick this early at pick No. 133. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kitan Oladapo at No. 158 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
By-the-book stuff, Dwight McGlothern at pick 172 squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached a country mile for Jaylen Harrell at slot 184, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Michael Barrett in the 194th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Joshua Cephus at Round 7, Pick 13 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
