This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tommy Eichenberg, the No. 145 name on the board, stolen at pick 252. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The Boyd pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Adonai Mitchell was still sitting there in the 64th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid up for Mason McCormick at slot 132 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Khristian Boyd this early at pick 159. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Williams in the 173rd overall pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 32 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
