Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs let Suamataia fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Kingsley Suamataia slide 34 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They will need Boyd to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 31
In slot 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Morgan at No. 64 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
You do not let an offensive lineman like Kingsley Suamataia reach the 95th pick and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 137
Jaylin Simpson in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Khristian Boyd · DL-EDGE · rank 178
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khristian Boyd. The roster fit checks out.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 161
Dwight McGlothern slipping to pick 173 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Jalen Coker · WR · rank 251
No drama and no debate, Jalen Coker went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 32. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
