The Lions looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Anthony Lucas at No. 57 regardless, 54 picks early.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ramsey. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 20 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value said wait; Anthony Lucas in Round 2, Pick 25 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Dontay Corleone at the 89th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Sam Roush at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Kamari Ramsey was still sitting there in pick 105, and they pounced on premier safety value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Will Lee III at the 128th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
J.C. Davis in No. 145 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A quiet steal in pick 157: Malik Benson for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Zane Durant in the 181st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Taylen Green slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the quarterback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
