For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chiefs walked out of the weekend still thin at tight end, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Oladapo steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The cost of the McCormick reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Kingsley Suamataia in slot 65, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mason McCormick at pick No. 132 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A slide stopped in No. 159, with Kitan Oladapo worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Khristian Boyd at Round 5, Pick 37 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dwight McGlothern in the 196th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A tidy bit of business in pick 209, where Ryan Flournoy graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Michael Barrett in the 252nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
