The Chiefs did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Adisa Isaac fell into slot 83.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They are betting Washington proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Junior Colson slipping to the 64th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Adisa Isaac in Round 3, Pick 19 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Khyree Jackson is a better player than No. 95 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Javon Foster at pick No. 100 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Fabien Lovett enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mason McCormick at pick 154 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kitan Oladapo in the 158th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tahj Washington this early at the Round 5 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
