The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Ladd McConkey slide 63 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The cost of the Hall Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They went early on Michael Hall Jr. in No. 64, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ladd McConkey in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Mahogany in slot 133 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Mason McCormick at pick No. 158, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khristian Boyd. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
