Nobody else had Jared Wiley anywhere near pick 133. The Chiefs did, by 67 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at No. 64, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Christian Mahogany in slot 95; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jared Wiley at Round 4, Pick 33 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Khristian Boyd in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Dwight McGlothern at pick 172 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
