After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The Sinnott pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Nourzad pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Amarius Mims at No. 34 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Worthy at the 68th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Fair-plus on Mohamed Kamara, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Hunter Nourzad at slot 180 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jha'Quan Jackson in pick 193. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 231, where Evan Williams graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
