Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chiefs, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The final tally is a middling C-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Mitchell to cover a lot of smaller sins. If Wingo pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
So much rides on Jordan Morgan that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Adonai Mitchell at the 46th overall pick is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Brandon Dorlus, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
A conviction pick on Mekhi Wingo at slot 95 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jaylin Simpson at Round 4, Pick 32 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at the 159th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
