The Chiefs spent real capital to be 52 picks early on Khristian Boyd, and the board is going to hold them to it.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They jumped the gun on Roman Wilson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Khristian Boyd in pick 106 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Luke McCaffrey at slot 133 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 158; the board had better options right there. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reach for Michael Barrett in No. 172; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
They took Jared Wiley at par in slot 210, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
