The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 37 spots for Ben Sinnott, and value like that does not grow back. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Robinson at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kiran Amegadjie in the 64th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dominick Puni in pick 90 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ben Sinnott at No. 95 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Jaylin Simpson in the 133rd overall pick, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kitan Oladapo at Round 5, Pick 22 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Luke McCaffrey in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nathaniel Watson at slot 188 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
