Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. T'Vondre Sweat, the No. 45 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 64.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
T'Vondre Sweat in the 64th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Christian Mahogany in pick 95, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They did well to land Isaac Guerendo in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 159, where Luke McCaffrey graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dwight McGlothern is a better player than the 173rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Jalen Sundell in slot 252, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
