The Logan Brown selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 105 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quinyon Mitchell at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Darius Robinson in slot 95 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 33, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Khristian Boyd went about where he belonged in the 158th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Michael Barrett in the 172nd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Jared Wiley at par in the 210th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Logan Brown at slot 250 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
