The Aaron Lewis selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 45 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ricky Pearsall in No. 74 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Roman Wilson slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Justin Eboigbe in pick 109; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid a round early for Ben Sinnott in pick No. 131, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Jaylen Wright enough to skip the value, taking him in the 145th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Jaylin Simpson in slot 161, a genuine coup. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid up for Curtis Jacobs at the 171st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A conviction pick on Michael Barrett at Round 5, Pick 39 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy bit of business in No. 209, where Christian Jones graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Aaron Lewis in pick 252 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
