The Chiefs lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
Foster has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Thrash at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Quinyon Mitchell in pick 27, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid a round early for Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 32, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had cheaper options than Brandon Dorlus at the 71st pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Javon Foster in No. 95, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mason McCormick at the 132nd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylin Simpson at slot 138 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They went early on Khristian Boyd in pick No. 159, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Jamari Thrash was still sitting there in the 173rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
