The rest of the league had time to spare on Khristian Boyd; the Chiefs did not wait, grabbing him 46 spots ahead at the 132nd overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Watson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Roman Wilson in the 64th pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dominick Puni at slot 95 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Khristian Boyd, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Jaylin Simpson at No. 159 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
