Somebody in the 159th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Ben Sinnott, the No. 130 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Ricky Pearsall in the 64th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brandon Dorlus at slot 95 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Isaac Guerendo in No. 132 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Ben Sinnott was still sitting there in pick No. 159, and they pounced on premier tight end value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dwight McGlothern slid further than he should have, and pick 173 is lovely value for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 32, where Josh Proctor graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
