They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Keilan Robinson, 57 picks early at the 252nd pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That Odunze pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Kingsley Suamataia, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They went early on Mason McCormick in slot 132, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They talked themselves into Khristian Boyd at pick 154, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Luke McCaffrey at the 159th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Dwight McGlothern higher than Round 5, Pick 37, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They reached a country mile for Solomon Byrd at No. 213, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Keilan Robinson at slot 252 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
