Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chiefs spent the 210th pick on Joshua Cephus, a name the board had a full 48 spots lower. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Worthy value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Xavier Worthy at pick 64 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason McCormick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Darius Robinson in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ben Sinnott a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid a round early for Kitan Oladapo in slot 158, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy bit of business in the 172nd overall pick, where Edefuan Ulofoshio graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A wild overpay on Christian Jones in pick 183, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Joshua Cephus at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Dwight McGlothern at the 250th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
