You build a draft on nights like this. Brandon Dorlus had no business being available in Round 4, Pick 32, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at pick 54, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Roman Wilson in the 64th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Javon Bullard in No. 85, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They barely believed it either: Ja'Lynn Polk still on the board at the 95th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Brandon Dorlus all the way to pick No. 132, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Walter Rouse in Round 5, Pick 23 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Steal is underselling it; Nathaniel Watson at slot 252 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
