The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chiefs left tight end untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Reaching for Boyd left real value on the table behind him. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Ulofoshio. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Roman Wilson at par in pick 42, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 64th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Michael Hall Jr. at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jalen McMillan in No. 95 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Jaylin Simpson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid a round early for Mason McCormick in pick No. 132, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Khristian Boyd in slot 159 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Dwight McGlothern higher than the 173rd pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They read the board right and Edefuan Ulofoshio was the payoff at pick No. 252. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
