There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chiefs started one anyway for Ryan Flournoy, 29 picks ahead of schedule.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Burton at that price is a win they earned.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on Jermaine Burton, who had no business lasting to pick 64. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Leonard Taylor III enough to skip the value, taking him in the 95th pick. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Jaylin Simpson went about where he belonged in No. 132. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Fabien Lovett in pick No. 159 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on Ryan Flournoy at slot 173, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
