The Javon Foster pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 25 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. The Robinson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 64 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Javon Foster at the 95th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Jaylin Simpson in Round 4, Pick 32, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Mason McCormick slipping to slot 159 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dwight McGlothern at the Round 5 slot. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tayvion Robinson in pick 252, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
