The Chiefs did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Luke McCaffrey fell into the 210th overall pick.
They are betting Boyd proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Guyton in slot 32 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Devontez Walker at the 64th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Mason McCormick at No. 95, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Khristian Boyd at the 133rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 158. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Michael Barrett at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey at Round 6, Pick 35 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They liked Nathaniel Watson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 250. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
