The Chiefs went off the board in a big way for Isaiah Williams, 37 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper Beebe at the 63rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Darius Robinson in pick 94 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in the 131st pick with a little surplus value in Javon Foster. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wild overpay on Isaiah Williams in No. 161, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 35, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Braelon Allen at pick No. 175 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Jared Wiley in the 198th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
