The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named tight end, a need the Chiefs walked right past.
The Taylor III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Devontez Walker in pick 64; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Leonard Taylor III enough to skip the value, taking him in the 95th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A conviction pick on Mason McCormick at slot 132 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dwight McGlothern at the 159th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
By-the-book stuff, Khristian Boyd at pick No. 173 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Jalen Coker went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
