Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The Packers spent real capital to be 52 picks early on Isaac Guerendo, and the board is going to hold them to it. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

That Phillips pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The Hicks pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 51
In the 25th pick they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 33
A slide stopped in the 41st overall pick, with Kamren Kinchens worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 43
Value with a capital V on Kris Jenkins in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 87
No edge and no loss on McKinnley Jackson in pick No. 88; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 107
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Jaden Hicks while clear needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 163
A wild overpay on Jaylen Wright in Round 4, Pick 27, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Renardo Green · S · rank 153
Renardo Green at the 168th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 210
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 29. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 176
Somehow Andru Phillips was still sitting there in slot 216, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 295
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac Guerendo. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 262
The board had cheaper options than Garret Greenfield at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
